Tarte is cruelty free but not 100% vegan

Tarte pledges that the brand does not conduct, contract out or fund animal testing in the developing, manufacturing or marketing of their products. Whilst Tarte recognises the importance of customer safety, the brand believes this can be sufficiently achieved without animal cruelty. Tarte is cruelty free and stands against animal testing. Furthermore, Tarte does not export its products to mainland China and/or other countries, where animal testing is required by law.

A: Tarte cosmetics is a cruelty-free cosmetics line & has been since 2000! Tarte makeup & skincare is never tested on animals. We are also an approved PETA participant.



Tarte is an American mid-range skin care and makeup brand.

Parent company

Kosé completed the acquisition of Tarte in 2014. Kosé is not cruelty free, the company supports animal testing and heavily present on the Chinese beauty market. Despite the acquisition, Tarte remains against animal testing.
