Hif is cruelty free but not 100% vegan

Hif pledges that the brand does not conduct, contract out or fund animal testing in the developing, manufacturing or marketing of their products. Whilst Hif recognises the importance of customer safety, the brand believes this can be sufficiently achieved without animal cruelty. Hif is cruelty free and stands against animal testing. Furthermore, Hif does not export its products to mainland China and/or other countries, where animal testing is required by law.

Cruelty free statement

Q: Do you test on animals?

A: As required by the European Cosmetics Regulations, we only work with suppliers who do not perform animal testing. Since that regulation came into force, it has pushed cosmetic raw material suppliers to replace animal testing with available alternatives to support the safety of their ingredients. DECIEM and The Ordinary do not test on animals and do not ask others to do so. For this reason, none of our brands or products are sold in stores or conventional retailers in mainland China, since such sales require animal testing for registration purposes.

Hif is a Canadian entry-level hair care brand.

Parent company

Deciem owns and manages Hif. Hif shares the umbrella company with The Ordinary, Hylamide, The Chemistry Brand, Niod and Loopha.

The Estée Lauder Companies partially owns Deciem. Estée Lauder is not cruelty free, the company supports animal testing and heavily present on the Chinese beauty market. Despite Estée Lauder’s ownership, Deciem remains cruelty free.

Currently Hif is not certified by any major animal rights organisation.
